M&M International Now Licensed for API 7V
M&M International Now Licensed for API 7V Kelly Valves & IBOPs — A New Era in Well Control Valve Manufacturing
We’re excited to share a major industry milestone: M&M International is now fully licensed for API 7V compliance covering both Kelly Valves and Inside Blow-Out Preventers (IBOPs) — a strategic advancement that aligns with the latest API regulatory standards and reinforces M&M’s position as a trusted global OEM for well control solutions.
The API 7V specification, published in April 2024 and updated with Addendum 1 in Jan 2025, establishes modern minimum design and performance criteria specifically for drill stem valves — including Kelly Valves and IBOPs — replacing prior licensing under older API specs. API now requires new monogram licenses for these products under API 7V rather than API 7-1.
Securing an API 7V license means M&M’s Kelly Valves and IBOPs are now officially certified to meet today’s industry design, quality, and reliability requirements as defined by the American Petroleum Institute — the definitive standard in upstream oil and gas valve manufacturing.
Kelly Valves and IBOPs are mission-critical devices — they help control pressure and fluid movement within the drilling string and act as internal barriers to wellbore flow when needed. With API 7V licensing:
In real terms, this means M&M’s Kelly Valves and IBOPs meet the most current, codified expectations for design and testing — a significant boost in product legitimacy and industry trust.
M&M International has a long heritage in well control valve technology, with a reputation built on innovation such as its patented CANISTER GUARD® design and other core technologies.
With the new API 7V license, M&M continues to validate its quality systems and manufacturing excellence in the most demanding sectors of the global energy industry.
M&M continues rolling out API 7V-certified Kelly Valves and IBOPs to customers worldwide.
Operators using M&M products will now benefit from a fully current API monogram license.
The industry shift from API 7-1 to API 7V licenses is gaining momentum — timely certification avoids gaps in compliance and ensures continued supply chain reliability.
